The Eucalyptus Blue Mallee is a small multi trunked sclerophyll tree that grows naturally in western NSW – Wyalong region and near Bendigo I Victoria.

 Mallee trees, have a massive and extensive root ball system, just under the surface of the soil, this acts as a defensive system to fire and also acts a reservoir for moisture and nutrients for the tree, in what is very low nutrient soil system. Leaves are disjunct and linear to narrow-lanceolate.

 Blue Mallee essential oil is extracted via steam distillation of the leaves and green branchlets and has a strong sweet camphoraceous aroma. 

Of all the cineole rich eucalyptus oils, Blue Mallee Eucalyptus contains one of the highest percentages.

Traditionally, Eucalyptus species have been used for supporting a healthy respiratory system and to soothe muscles after exercise.

Of the Eucalypts, Blue Mallee contains one of the highest percentages of cineole  - up to 90% cineole, and also contains beta-pinene, alpha-pinene, limonene.

The essential oil is a popular decongestant remedy for upper respiratory infections and inflammatory infections, such as bronchitis. In these instances it is used as an inhalant, where it reaches the lungs and bronchioles to help soothe congestion and chest infections.

It is antiseptic and useful in masking and eliminating odours and is effective as an insect repellent

It is popular in household cleaning products and air fresheners. Because it is also effective as a solvent, it can be used as a spot or stain remover for carpet, clothing and linens. Blue Mallee will also remove glue from skin and surfaces and it can effectively clean stainless steel.

Eucalyptus oil has a history of wide application as a pharmaceutical, antiseptic, repellent, flavouring, fragrance and industrial uses.
