Roman Chamomile is a perennial herb that is cultivated for its health benefits and has been used by humans for over 2,000 years. These plants grow somewhere between 8 inches and 12 inches in height and have daisy-like flowers. 

Each yellow and white flower head is composed of two different kinds of flowers – a yellow disk flower and white or cream ray flower.

Harvesting will not begin until the analysis results show that the essential oil meets the predetermined quality parameters.

This calming soothing oil is extracted by steam distillation of the flowers/buds.

Roman chamomile essential oil is one of the most versatile of all oils used in aromatherapy.

Studied Properties

Calming and soothing, chamomile is a very versatile essential oil.

It is gentle enough for use with children in small doses.

It has calming and anti-bacterial properties. It fights against inflammation of the skin, including inflammation of sunburns and minor scrapes and cuts. 

Roman Chamomile oil is full of calcium, magnesium, and potassium and is a great nourishing aid.

The oil helps calm irritability and anxiety. It is gently relaxing and supportive to the nervous system and digestion.

The properties of chamomile are so calming, that the extract is used topically and in aromatherapy, to reduce nervousness, restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, and sleep deprivation.

Chamomile is often used to treat skin irritations, such as pimples or other acne problems, and reduces the swelling and redness that may occur from such conditions.

Common Uses

A calming and gentle oil, chamomile is very versatile and a favourite in Aromatherapy.

In cosmetics and personal care products, ingredients derived from the flowers of Anthemis nobilis are used in the formulation many cosmetics and personal care products including bath products, cleansing products, deodorants, makeup, fragrances, hair conditioners, hair colours, shampoos, shaving products, suntan products and skin care products.

It is a definite favourite in hair products, especially in shampoos as it can work as a cleanser- conditioner for hair as well as fight dandruff. The essential oil is especially beneficial for blonde hair.

Roman Chamomile is very calming and known to be especially helpful in combating insomnia and great in diffusers and burners.
